Heavy raining pouring down last night and I ended up with my notebook and thinking of watching movie. Right, suddenly this one caught my eye... hmmm... Patriotic... why not ? it's been a while for me not watching some serious movie.
I remember when I bought the DVD... The salesgirl that i known for quite sometimes kept saying that she doesn't understand Why do i want to buy this one... "ala kak... ni boring ni, ambik lain la...." that is part of her words. Then i smile back to her said that i have the book but haven't read it yet and decided to watch the movie first.
Well, Flags of Our Fathers is a film about the Battle of Iwo Jima and tells the story of how the three surviving flag-raisers were used as propaganda tools by the United States government to lift the morale of the American people and raise money for the war effort. It also shows the effects of war on the veterans and how they suffered from memories of the war for the rest of their lives. The flag has been raised in Mt. Suribachi.
The three survivor try to survive in their country among their own people as one of the IRA HAYES is a Native Indian. Though he's called as a hero in the states but a lot of people can't accept him. They don't even let him to have a pint in a bar cuz he's an Indian. what a shame they have brought among themselves. He ended up died with no one care about him and the cause of his death.
How IRA fought with his guilty after claiming to one of the troops' mother that her son was on the picture. He walk over 1300km just to let the parents know that their son wasn't one of the flag raiser in the picture. After explaining to Hank's father, he just turn around going home.
The story teller is the son of JOHN BRADLEY one of the flag raiser. I ended up crying and remember my dad story during the world war II. Should I become like James? Writing a novel about the story of my father??? I am not too sure.
Written by James Bradley son of JOHN BRADLEY - one of survivor & one of flag raiser
